ISTUMBLE – training opportunity for Care Homes

When a person falls and is on the floor for longer than 1 hour, evidence has shown an increased risk of death or other complications, such as skin damage, kidney failure, and pneumonia.

To help reduce this, before calling 999, carers should undertake a post fall assessment of any person who has fallen. ISTUMBLE has been developed by Mangar and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) as an interactive app that helps guide carers through a set of questions to see if the faller is safe to be lifted or if there is a need to call 999. This helps reduce time on the floor and unnecessary calls to 999.

This app is free to use and available on both iOS and Android devices.
