Community Organisations
The Caribbean Associations Group (CAG) are an umbrella organisation for some well-established African Caribbean Groups in Reading. Their aim is to bring together the African Caribbean diaspora in Reading to speak with one voice to articulate their needs. They deliver projects, engage influential bodies, and organise events for the mutual benefit of the diaspora.
The Indian Community Association is a vibrant and accessible community organisation in Reading, UK, providing a wide range of services and opportunities for local people of all ages and backgrounds. After School Club activities, Cultural Awareness classes, support for older people, volunteering and training placements are just some of the services they provide.
Reading Community and Learning Centre is a charity that helps ethnic minority women and their families living in the Reading area. Most service users are migrants who speak little or no English, and have limited experience outside their home. RCLC provides free and informal non accredited English conversation classes, reading and writing, IT, sewing, health and beauty, confidence building, and employability classes. Slough Refugee Support (SRS) assists refugees and asylum seekers in Slough and surrounding areas to settle with pride and confidence. SRS responds to the needs of those who are destitute and in despair by delivering support and services such as sessions with Immigration advocacy, a job club, English classes, sewing classes, UK citizenship class and raising awareness on health and wellbeing.
